Cardinals officially place Peters on IR
The Sports Xchange
The Arizona Cardinals officially placed defensive tackle Corey Peters on injured reserve Friday.
Coach Bruce Arians announced Thursday that Peters suffered a torn left Achilles tendon in Wednesday’s practice and is out for the season.
Peters, 27, was carted off the field Wednesday. This is the second major Achilles injury for Peters, who tore the tendon in his right leg late in the 2013 season.
Arians said Thursday that Peters was untouched “just running toward the ball” when he suffered the injury.
“Obviously, he’s devastated,” Arians said.
The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Peters signed a three-year, $10.5 million deal with the Cardinals as a free agent on March 11. The sixth-year pro spent his first five seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. Peters has 146 career tackles and 11 sacks in 71 games.
