Cardinals’ Bowles signed through 2017
Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles signed a contract extension through 2017.
According to ProFootballTalk.com, the contract includes a significant pay raise. Bowles is expected to be a head-coaching candidate again this offseason.
Fifteen teams have changed head coaches in the past two seasons.
Bowles’ contract was set to expire after next season. He was interviewed by the Browns and Vikings before Cleveland went with Mike Pettine and Mike Zimmer went to Minnesota.
Bowles, 50, said Tuesday that he is not looking for his next move.
“I’m not looking for anything because I’m not looking for my next move,” he told 98.7 FM in Arizona. “If we have a great season and hopefully win the Super Bowl and that chance comes around, you look at it and you weigh your options.”
Bowles was 2-1 as interim head coach of the Miami Dolphins in 2011.
“Every job isn’t a great job, so it has to fit in right,” he said. “The people have to be right, the organization has to be right and I have to feel comfortable, and I’m comfortable right here right now. So whatever is out there, whatever everybody says is out there, I’ll deal with it after the season if it comes to that.”
