Bucs G Mankins (groin) out vs. Jags
The Sports Xchange
TAMPA — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will play host to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday without three members of their original starting offensive line.
Left guard Logan Mankins is inactive with a groin injury and backup tackle Kevin Pamphile will be pressed into duty in his place.
Mankins is one of six Bucs out with injury. Cornerback Johnthan Banks (knee), tight end Luke Stocker (hip) and receiver Russell Shepard (hamstring) are out for a second straight game, and tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins (shoulder) and center Evan Smith (ankle) are missing a third straight game. Quarterback Ryan Griffin is the only healthy scratch for the Bucs.
The injury to Mankins means the Bucs have three injury replacements on the starting line in Pamphile, center Joe Hawley and right tackle Gosder Cherilus (for Demar Dotson). The two others are both rookies, in left tackle Donovan Smith and right guard Ali Marpet.
The Jaguars have good news, in that star tight end Julius Thomas will make his debut with the team after missing four games with a hand injury. Linebacker Paul Posluszny and defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks remain out with ankle injuries, and the Jaguars also had receiver Marqise Lee, running back Denard Robinson, defensive end Chris Smith and guard Tyler Shatley inactive.
