Browns uncertain when Manziel will throw again
The Sports Xchange
Head coach Mike Pettine said Tuesday the Cleveland Browns are not sure when quarterback Johnny Manziel will be ready to throw again.
Manziel is bothered by right elbow soreness, a condition Pettine said was also a challenge for Manziel at Texas A&M. The 2014 first-round pick was flagged by at least one team for the elbow issue, according to ESPN.
“I don’t know when he will throw again, but he is doing his rehab exercises. He is on the training room protocol with it. There is not any real update with Johnny,” Pettine said.
The soreness in his elbow is commonly associated with tennis elbow or mild tendinitis. The recovery period typically is days to weeks.
Thad Lewis and Pat Devlin are the only quarterbacks on the roster behind starter Josh McCown, the 36-year-old journeyman with starts for the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers the past two seasons.
