Browns re-sign TE Cameron
The Cleveland Browns re-signed tight end Jordan Cameron on Thursday.
The contract is worth $15 million over two years, according to NFL Network and Yahoo Sports.
The deal came together even as Cameron reportedly was meeting with the Dolphins in Miami.
Cameron was considered the second-best tight end in free agency, behind Denver’s Julius Thomas. While Thomas signed a five-year, $46 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cameron had found a lukewarm reception in free agency.
That was probably due largely to the fact that he has had three concussions over the past two seasons and missed six games due to head injuries last season.
A fourth-round pick in 2011, Cameron has caught 130 passes for 1,600 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Browns. In 2013, he caught 80 balls for 917 yards and seven scores.
The Dolphins had been talking with Cameron as possible insurance against losing tight end Charles Clay, their transition-tagged player who had visited the Buffalo Bills and could sign an offer sheet.
