Browns QB McCown active
The Sports Xchange
Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown is active and expected to start Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.
He was limited in practice all week and placed on a “throw count” by trainers while recovering from a shoulder injury suffered in the fourth quarter of last week’s loss at St. Louis.
McCown did not practice Wednesday but was able to throw later in the day. He worked with the team on a limited basis Thursday and Friday.
McCown suffered shoulder and rib injuries after taking a number of hits against the St. Louis Rams last Sunday.
Johnny Manziel, who met with NFL investigators after practice Wednesday regarding his role in the Oct. 12 incident with his girlfriend in Avon, Ohio, will remain the backup quarterback.
Pettine said the Browns are prepared to play either quarterback.
