Broncos’ Travathan out longer than expected
The Denver Broncos placed linebacker Danny Trevathan on injured reserve Tuesday with the designation to return.
In the Broncos’ 31-17 win over the New York Jets on Sunday, Trevathan reinjured the same leg that had a broken bone under the kneecap. He was playing in his second game since the injury originally occurred.
It initially was thought that the latest injury would sideline Trevathan for six weeks, but on Tuesday the timetable for his return was adjusted to eight weeks.
That makes Trevathan eligible to resume practicing on Nov. 26 and allows him to return to the active roster before a Week 16 game against the San Diego Chargers on Dec. 14.
Travathan, the Broncos’ leading tackler last season, has seven tackles in two starts this season.
