Broncos sign TE Casey

The Denver Broncos agreed to terms with free agent tight end James Casey on a one-year contract Saturday.

Casey is a seventh-year player who has appeared in 92 regular-season games (23 starts) and five playoff contests (one start) during his career with Houston (2009-12) and Philadelphia (2013-14).

The 30-year-old Casey owns 72 career receptions for 842 yards with six touchdowns on offense in addition to 50 tackles on special teams. In the postseason, he has totaled four receptions for 49 yards with one special-teams stop.

In 2014, Casey led the NFL with 439 snaps played on special teams while posting 13 tackles and two blocked punts for the Eagles.

Drafted by the Texans in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL Draft from Rice, Casey improved his offensive receiving totals each season with the club. He totaled a career-high 34 receptions for 330 yards with three touchdowns while starting nine of 16 games for Houston in 2012.
