Broncos place Bowlen’s son on leave after arrest

The Denver Broncos placed John Bowlen Jr., son of owner Pat Bowlen, on indefinite leave Thursday in the wake of a domestic violence arrest.
Bowlen, who is a corporate partnerships coordinator for the team, was arrested Wednesday night in Glendale, Colo., according to KUSA-TV.
Bowlen, 29, is accused of shoving his girlfriend against a bathroom wall as she tried to call 911, according to a police report obtained by KUSA.
The girlfriend, Jessica Best, told police that Bowlen was under the influence of alcohol and another drug and was making threats about killing someone he didn’t like. When Best told him she was calling 911, he grabbed her and pushed her against a wall, the report said.
When the 911 operator called back, Bowlen answered and said, “This is the owner of the Denver Broncos. I am sorry. Nothing is wrong. This is John Bowlen, Johnny Bowlen.”
Best told police she was not injured, and there were no signs of injury, according to the report.
Bowlen was held overnight in Arapahoe County Jail.
