Black Friday is the biggest shopping day in America, but there won’t be many NFL transactions.  We’re going to examine what should be on top of each team’s shopping list as they enter the offseason.

We already looked at the NFC teams, now it’s time to examine the needs of each AFC team.

AFC East

New England Patriots- For a team that’s the defending Super Bowl champs, as well as undefeated in 2015, the Pats have some major needs.  New England needs help on the offensive line and at wide receiver, as well as in the secondary.  They’ll select the best available player in the draft, regardless of the position.

Buffalo Bills- Rex Ryan has inherited a pretty solid roster from top to bottom.  Their biggest need is for quarterback Tyrod Taylor to play more consistently, and they can use some more offensive line depth and linebacker help.

New York Jets- It appears that Geno Smith is not part of their future plans so the Jets desperately need a quarterback.  They can also use some more help at safety and an edge rusher.  It’s likely that Todd Bowles will draft defense early on, unless one of the elite quarterback prospects drops to them.

Miami Dolphins- The Dolphins are anchored to Ryan Tannehill, so the most important plan will be to protect him.  Miami needs offensive line help as well as help in the secondary.  A big time head coach would certainly be required and they’ll get that a week after Christmas.

AFC North

Cincinnati Bengals- The Bengals have the best roster in the NFL and they don’t have much in terms of desperate needs.  They won’t move past Andy Dalton so they’ll try to get even better around him.  Cincinnati can use some help at safety, and another pass rusher.

Pittsburgh Steelers- Most of the Steelers needs are on the defensive side of the ball, and at all three levels.  The secondary is the most desperate area of need, followed by the defensive line.  Another playmaking tight end will be required soon as Heath Miller is in the twilight of his career.

Baltimore Ravens- The Ravens were decimated by injuries in 2015 and they need help in a lot of places.  Wide receiver is a priority on offense, as well as cornerback, safety and an edge rusher.  The Ravens can truly go best player available in the draft and likely hit on a major need.

Cleveland Browns- What do the Browns need for Christmas? The same thing they’ve needed for 25 years, a quarterback.  Cleveland will go nowhere until they get a functional signal caller.

AFC South

Indianapolis Colts- The Colts have major needs on the offensive and defensive lines.  Indy must rebuild most of their defense and that starts with getting a legitimate pass rusher to replace Robert Mathis.

Houston Texans- Texans head coach Bill O’Brien passed on all of the quarterbacks in the 2014 NFL Draft and now he’s left with…journeymen.  Houston is a quarterback away from being a legitimate contender and they can also use a young receiver to play opposite DeAndre Hopkins.  The safety position is an area of need as well as tight end.

Jacksonville Jaguars- The Jaguars will get a “bonus first-round pick” next year as Dante Fowler, Jr. will be back from his torn ACL, but the team still needs more help.  Unless Jacksonville loses out, they will not be in position to get one of the elite pass rushers in the 2016 NFL Draft. They also have major needs at safety and left tackle.

Tennessee Titans- The Titans have a quarterback and not much else.  They will likely rebuild the team in the mindset of their new head coach, which will come next month.  They have some pieces on defense, but still need help in the secondary and playmakers all across the offense.

AFC West

Denver Broncos- The Broncos need to see if Brock Osweiler can be their quarterback of the very near future.  Aside from that, they can use some offensive line help and more assistance at safety.

Kansas City Chiefs- The Chiefs have a solid roster but they need more playmakers on offense.  Wide receiver is a need, offensive tackle as well as linebacker depth and safety help.

Oakland Raiders- Oakland is rebuilding nicely, but they need assistance in the secondary and at defensive tackle.  Another receiver opposite Amari Cooper would also represent a need, as well as another running back to tandem with Latavius Murray.

San Diego Chargers- The Chargers have a quarterback, that’s the good news.  The bad news is that they need pretty much everything else.  They need to rebuild both lines as well as the linebacker position.  They also need more weapons on the outside.
