Former Tennessee Titans kicker Rob Bironas was driving at more than twice the speed limit when he crashed his SUV and was killed in September, the Tennessean reported based on information from the Metro Police Department’s Crash Investigative Unit.

The report stated Bironas was going 73 mph when he lost control of his vehicle, causing him to go off the road. The speed limit is 35 mph.

The case is now closed.

Last month, a toxicology report on the 36-year-old Bironas revealed he had a blood alcohol level of .218 percent, more than twice the legal limit of .08.

A low level of Diazepam (Valium) was also detected.

The cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma. Larry Bironas told The Tennessean his son broke his neck in the accident.

According to the Tennessean report, two people said Bironas confronted them in road rage incidents minutes before the crash.

Bironas played nine seasons with the Titans.
