Bills WR Watkins recovering from hip surgery
The Sports Xchange
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins underwent hip surgery early in the offseason, according to reports Friday.
ESPN.com reported that Watkins had the procedure done sometime before the Super Bowl for the injury he suffered in a Week 13 win over the Cleveland Browns.
FOX Sports reported the procedure was an arthroscopic cleanup, and Watkins is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.
In the game against the Browns on Nov. 30, Watkins had three catches for a season-low 11 yards but played every offensive snap. The following week, he caught seven passes for 127 yards.
The 2014 first-round pick played every game as a rookie, totaling 65 catches for 982 yards and six touchdowns.
According to ESPN, it is unclear if the procedure will affect Watkins’ availability for voluntary offseason workouts, which begin April 6. The Bills will hold a voluntary veteran minicamp April 28-30.
