The Sports Xchange
The Buffalo Bills signed free agent defensive lineman Red Bryant and running back Cierre Wood on Wednesday.
Bryant, 31, originally entered the league as a fourth-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2008 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-4, 323 pound Texas A&M product has played in 80 games with 71 starts and has totaled 143 tackles, 4.5 sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Bryant signed a five-year, $35 million deal with Seattle in 2012 but was released for cap purposes after the 2013 season. He signed a four-year, $19 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars last year and started all 16 games before being released in March.
Wood, 24, originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans following the 2013 draft. The 5-11, 213 pound Notre Dame product has played in five career games. During his collegiate career, Wood played in 37 games with 18 starts and finished his career as Notre Dame’s seventh-leading rusher with 2,447 yards on 450 carries.
The Bills also released tight end Chris Manhertz and cornerback Rod Sweeting.
