Bills DE Hughes fined $22,050
Buffalo Bills defensive end Jerry Hughes was fined $22,050 for unsportsmanlike conduct by the NFL.
The NFL said that Hughes “directed abusive language towards an official” during the Bills’ Nov. 13 game against the Miami Dolphins. It is not clear what he said to the officials that warranted the fine.
Hughes said he told the officials that they missed a holding penalty against the Dolphins but got no explanation as to why no penalty was called.
“I did yell because I did get held on that play,” Hughes said. “I made sure I yelled, ‘Holding.’ Whatever else came after that, I really don’t know. I don’t know. … I’ve never really seen a holding call missed at the point of attack like that. So I really don’t know. I’m at a loss for words right now.”
The same crew called Hughes for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty during the Bills’ Week 6 games against the New England Patriots.
