Bills add LB Enemkpali to roster, place RB Wood on IR

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills added linebacker IK Enemkpali to the active roster Monday and placed running back Cierre Wood on season-ending injured reserve with a knee injury.

Enemkpali was signed by the Bills on Sept. 11, the same day he was suspended by the NFL for the first four games of the season stemming from the incident in which he punched and broke the jaw of former New York Jets teammate quarterback Geno Smith. Enemkpali’s roster exemption expired Monday.

The Bills play at the Jets on Nov. 12, but Smith is currently the backup to Ryan Fitzpatrick, who took over the starting job while Smith was recovering from his broken jaw.

— With all the talent the Bills have at receiver, Chris Hogan has been the forgotten man. That is, until Sunday in Tennessee. With Sammy Watkins sidelined again, and Robert Woods and Percy Harvin really not producing, Hogan stepped up and made two of the biggest plays in the game for Buffalo.

On the game-winning drive midway through the fourth quarter, Hogan caught a 46-yard deep ball from quarterback Tyrod Taylor, and then caught the two-yard touchdown pass that put the Bills ahead.

“Obviously going into these types of games, with Sammy out, I’ll be in the scouting report,” Hogan said. “If teams want to overlook me, that’s fine. I know that I’m going to be getting man coverage and it’ll be up to me to make plays. What I’ve done the last couple weeks, I don’t think teams will be overlooking the fact that I’m in the game. Now, it’s up to me to make plays. Now that I’ve done it, people are going to be more aware.”

Hogan had a breakthrough season in 2014 when he caught 41 passes for 426 yards and four touchdowns. This year, despite a lesser role, he has 12 receptions for 137 yards and two scores.
