Big Ben On Patriots: “They’re The Gold Standard”

See how Ben Roethlisberger feels about the Patriots.

When the Pittsburgh Steelers won the AFC North over the Baltimore Ravens, many were anticipating an eventual matchup between them and the New England Patriots. Based on the combination of talent and experience, these two ball clubs are easily the top two in the AFC.

As Ben Roethlisberger prepares to go up against Tom Brady in Foxborough, he understands how big of a challenge this presents.

“It’s the championship game. You’ve got one game to get to the Super Bowl. Like I said, you’re going up to the lion’s den, the dragon’s lair,” Ben Roethlisberger said Wednesday. “They’re the dragon and we’re trying to slay them. It doesn’t matter who it is, but as I said they’re the gold standard.”

Typically you wouldn’t hear such comments from a two-time Super Bowl champion, but Brady has four of them.

“They’re the best in the world, they’re the gold standard if you will, so you want to have that opportunity to go play the best. It’ll be an awesome challenge for us,” Roethlisberger said.

It should be a very highly contested game, to say the least.
