Bengals WR Green expected to miss Colts game
The Cincinnati Bengals probably will be without wide receiver A.J. Green when they face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
Green did not participate in Thursday practices and has an appointment on Friday with a foot specialist. At that time, the Bengals should have a better idea if Green will be able to play, but the prevailing thought is that he will be sidelined.
The Bengals are hoping Green will be ready to play when Cincinnati meets AFC North foe Baltimore.
Earlier in the week, Coach Marvin Lewis said Green had “a shot to play” this week.
Green was wearing a boot while observing pregame warmups Sunday. He was going through agility drills in last Wednesday’s practice when he aggravated his big toe injury.
Green previously told reporters that he first suffered the injury that he called “something like turf toe, but not as bad” during the first quarter of the season opener. He battled through the pain, catching a 77-yard go-ahead touchdown that helped give the Bengals the 23-16 Week 1 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Green missed the next game because of the injury, but caught six passes for 102 yards in the Week 3 win over the Tennessee Titans. He had five catches for 81 yards and a touchdown in the Bengals’ 43-17 loss at New England in Week 4.
