Bengals’ Johnson leabes practice with injury

Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Michael Johnson was taken off the practice field in a cart after suffering an apparent knee injury on Sunday.

Johnson was injured during team drills in the practice, and he held his right knee before trainers arrived on the field, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported. He hobbled a few yards to reach the cart, which transported him off the field.

The severity of the injury has yet to be determined.

Johnson spent his first five NFL seasons with the Bengals and had 26.5 sacks in that span.

He signed a five-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last year, but was released after one season. He had four sacks while playing in 14 games, including 13 starts, in 2014.

He was acquired by the Bengals again in the offseason, as Johnson agreed to a four-year, $20 million deal with Cincinnati in March.

But now it is unclear whether he will play in 2015.
