Bengals’ Bernard suffers injury
Cincinnati Bengals running back Giovani Bernard appeared to sustain a shoulder injury during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers in Cincinnati.
Bernard was taken to the ground by Panthers middle linebacker Luke Kuechly on a run for no gain and then left the field.
With Bernard on the sideline, rookie Jeremy Hill took over as the Bengals’ No. 1 back.
Bernard was having a big day to that point with a career-high 115 yards on 13 carries. His 89-yard touchdown run in the second quarter was the longest in the NFL this year.
Last year as a rookie, Bernard rushed for 695 yards and five touchdowns on 170 carries and added 56 catches for 514 yards and three touchdowns in 16 regular-season games.
