Bears Trying Long at Left Tackle

John Fox talked about the value of ensuring the Chicago Bears offensive linemen were versatile and ready to fill in at different positions last week when Pro Bowl right guard Kyle Long was shifted outside to right tackle.Long, who was at right tackle again Tuesday when the team’s minicamp kicked off, was on the move again Wednesday as he shifted over to left tackle, flipping positions with Charles Leno, the seventh-round pick from a year ago.Jermon Bushrod and Jordan Mills remained sidelined.“I think it is an injustice to just roll a guy, even as simple as it sounds, left to right (without preparation),” Fox said after practice. “Whether you are doing it with a corner an outside backer, a guard or a tackle, they need to practice it. This is a good time of year to get the techniques, get the sets and all of the different communication that has to happen with the O-line getting that valuable reps and experience.”
