Bears Select Kevin White 7th Overall- Full NFL Draft Analysis

The Chicago Bears found their replacement for Brandon Marshall. Did Chicago maximize the value of their pick?

The Chicago Bears addressed a major need at wide receiver as they used their seventh-overall pick on West Virginia speedster Kevin White.

“Kevin White said he thought he might end up with the Chicago Bears, and he was right. White is lightning fast and has a skill that’s drawn comparisons to Julio Jones. Chicago needed to add a weapon opposite Alshon Jeffery after trading Brandon Marshall to the Jets. White gives Jay Cutler and the Bears offense another weapon, but there will still be questions about whether or not the offensive line can give them time to all work. White will give the Bears offense versatility as he has the speed and power to make plays around the line of scrimmage or deep down field.”- Pat Donovan

“Instead of trading away Jay Cutler, the Bears gave him one of the most dangerous weapons in this year’s draft. Chicago selected Kevin White with the No. 7 overall pick, pairing him with Alshon Jeffery to give Cutler a couple of top-tier options. White has blazing speed and the toughness to secure contested passes. He is also an instant favorite of Chicago sports fans, who erupted with applause when his name was called and he walked to the stage at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University.”- Michael Lombardo

“This is who I had going to the Bears in my mock draft. Once Brandon Marshall was sent to New York, it only made sense to take the best guy left on the board who also fit a team need. Now Jay Cutler just needs to get the ball to him instead of the other team.” – Alex Hickey

“I’m a little surprised that with John Fox in town, the Bears didn’t go defense here with Vic Beasley, but the team prioritized adding a great piece to an offense that was missing one since they traded Brandon Marshall. With Marshall and Alshon Jeffery, Chicago had one of the best wide receiver tandems in the league the last couple seasons. By adding Kevin White, they once again have that and this time it’s a duo they can build around for years. White has speed to burn, but he’s no one-trick pony, he can line up anywhere and make catches down the field or in traffic. No more excuses for Jay Cutler. He has the tools. Time to go to work.” – Devon Jeffreys

“The Bears certainly picked the best available receiver and he will do a good job as a potential replacement for Brandon Marshall.  Still, it seems as if they would’ve been better off keeping Marshall for another year or two and using this seventh-overall pick on their leaky defense.”- Charlie Bernstein
