Bears DE Houston out with torn ACL
Chicago Bears defensive end Lamarr Houston has a torn ACL and is out for the season as the result of hurting his right knee while celebrating a sack during Sunday’s game while losing by 25 points.
Houston underwent an MRI on Monday. He sacked backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo during the fourth quarter of the 51-23 blowout loss to the New England Patriots.
“I have to get an MRI in the morning, hopefully everything is good, but we’ll see tomorrow,” Houston said after the game. “I probably shouldn’t have celebrated while they were blowing us out, but it happens. Landed wrong, tried to hop up, didn’t feel right.”
Houston was the Bears’ highest-paid offseason addition, signing a $36 million free-agent deal.
“He’s got a knee, and I’m very disappointed for him,” coach Marc Trestman said after the game. “I’m very disappointed for Lamarr.”
