ASU’s Strong declares for NFL draft

Arizona State junior wide receiver Jaelen Strong announced Monday that he will leave school early to enter the NFL draft.

“This has been one of the most difficult decisions of my life. I’ve spoken to my family and we feel it is best for me to declare for the 2015 NFL draft,” Strong said in a statement.

Strong was an All-Pac-12 receiver and a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award after catching 75 passes for 1,062 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. He gained 202 yards and scored three times on 10 receptions against USC, including a 46-yard TD on the final play to give the Sun Devils a 38-34 win.

In two years at ASU, Strong caught 150 passes for 2,184 yards and 17 touchdowns.

“Jaelen’s enormous impact was felt from the first day he stepped on the practice field with us more than 16 months ago. His work ethic, attention to detail and overall football IQ are just a few of his attributes that make him such a special talent,” ASU coach Todd Graham said. “It has been a great pleasure to watch him grow into the young man he has become – a leader off the field and a giver in his community.”

Strong will play his final college game in the Sun Bowl against Duke on Saturday.

He is ranked as the No. 20 overall draft prospect and the No. 4 receiver by NFLDraftScout.com.
