Defensive end Ray McDonald violently broke through a bedroom door to get to his ex-fiancee and their infant daughter, according to the 911 call that led to his arrest.

A woman, who is identified as the mother of the alleged victim, tells a dispatcher that McDonald is drunk during a 911 call at 3:41 a.m. in Santa Clara, Calif., on Monday.

The 6-foot-3, 290-pound lineman then tried to take the baby before leaving, according to the 911 call.

The California Highway Patrol on Tuesday released audio from the 911 call that led to the arrest of McDonald on suspicion of child endangerment and domestic violence.

McDonald was arrested around 7 a.m. at the San Jose home of retired 49ers defensive lineman Justin Smith, a former teammate.

McDonald is free on $15,000 bail after he was booked on suspicion of one count each of domestic violence and child endangerment, both misdemeanors.

Later Monday, the Chicago Bears released McDonald, who was signed in March after he was released by the San Francisco 49ers in December.

“We believe in second chances, but when we signed Ray we were very clear what our expectations were if he was to remain a Bear,” Bears general manager Ryan Pace said in the statement. “He was not able to meet the standard, and the decision was made to release him.”

It was the third case accusing McDonald of violence against a woman since August. He was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence involving the same woman in Monday’s allegations, when she was pregnant and they were still engaged.

The emergency call, which was relayed to Santa Clara police, alleged that when the woman tried to barricade herself in a bedroom with the infant she had with McDonald.

“She said she received a call from her daughter … advising that her boyfriend Ray McDonald was being violent,” the dispatcher said. “She tried to lock herself in her bedroom but he broke the door down … Ex is trying to leave now with her infant.”

Later in the audio recording, an officer said, “If he decides he wants to run, we’re not going to chase, we know who he is.”

McDonald’s attorney, Steve DeFilippis, acknowledged Tuesday that his client and ex-fiancee had an argument, but said he said it never became “physical,” according to the San Jose Mercury News.

“From the information I have, yes, there was an argument,” DeFilippis said. “But there was no physical contact, and if so, there was no crime.”

In December, McDonald was accused of sexually assaulting another woman, prompting the 49ers to dismiss him from the team.

The NFL has continued to look into the alleged sexual assault. McDonald has sued his accuser for defamation, claiming that footage from his home surveillance system shows their sexual encounter was “clearly consensual.” She has sued him in return.

Since 2011, McDonald started 56 games for the 49ers, including 14 last season. He had 39 tackles and three sacks in 2014. In his eight-year career, all with the 49ers, McDonald has 210 tackles, 19 1/2 sacks and one interception.
