49ers sign injured RB Hunter to extension
The San Francisco 49ers signed running back Kendall Hunter to a one-year contract extension that puts him under contract through the 2015 season.
Hunter is currently recovering from surgery to repair the torn ACL in his right knee suffered during a non-contact drill early in training camp. Hunter had been expected to serve as Frank Gore’s primary backup again – a role that has gone to rookie Carlos Hyde.
Hunter, 26, rushed for 358 yards with three touchdowns last season. He has averaged 4.6 yards per carry in three seasons. He was entering the final year of his contract.
