49ers announce one-year deal with RB Bush

Published

on

The San Francisco 49ers announced Wednesday that they have signed running back Reggie Bush to a one-year contract.

The sides reportedly had agreed to the deal Saturday.

The 30-year-old Bush also visited New Orleans, where he played five seasons after coming out of USC, and New England during the week before deciding on the 49ers.

Bush will join Carlos Hyde and Kendall Hunter in trying to replace Frank Gore, who left the 49ers for Indianapolis.

Bush has two 1,000-yard rushing seasons in the last four years, but injuries limited him to 297 yards and two touchdowns in 11 games for Detroit last season.

The Lions released him on Feb. 25.

Bush signed a four-year, $16 million contract with the Lions in 2013 and rushed for 1,006 yards and four touchdowns while catching 54 passes for 506 yards and three scores.

The No. 2 pick in the 2006 draft, Bush has rushed for 5,465 yards and 35 touchdowns and caught 466 passes for 3,489 yards and 18 touchdowns in nine seasons with the New Orleans Saints (2006-2010), Miami Dolphins (2011-2012) and Lions.
