10/26/14- NCAA Coach Of The Year Rankings
Find out which coaches are doing the best job in the nation this year.
Coaching matters in football more than any other sport. Coaching matters even more in college football as you can outscheme your opponents on a weekly basis. We are going to rank the Top 5 coaches in college football from week to week in our Coach of the Year Rankings.
#1 Dan Mullen, Mississippi State Bulldogs
Dan Mullen finally has a full Dan Mullen recruiting class playing and his team is undefeated and ranked at the top of both polls. Mullen has done such a good job that he might be able to leave Starkville after this season.
#2 Rich Rodriguez, Arizona Wildcats
Arizona is for real and much of the credit should go to head coach Rich Rodriguez. Rodriguez is building a winner in one of the toughest conferences in the nation and he’s doing it without premium recruits. Very, very impressive.
#3 Brian Kelly, Notre Dame
The job that Brian Kelly has done at Notre Dame is nothing short of remarkable. Recruits weren’t alive the last time the Irish won a title and still Kelly is quietly turning South Bend into a destination. The Irish can play with anybody and should get in the playoff if they can run the table.
#4 Jimbo Fisher, FSU
Yes, Jimbo Fisher has the best talent in the nation, but he shouldn’t be penalized for being great at his job. Fisher’s team keeps winning and although it will be tough, if not impossible for him to win the Coach of the Year Award, he’s more than deserving.
#5 Gary Patterson, TCU
Gary Patterson has acclimated his team quite well to the “rigors” of playing in the Big 12 and he capped things off on Saturday by setting a conference record for points scored in a Big 12 game with 82! Patterson’s defense obviously isn’t where he wants it to be, but if he can run the table the rest of the way, TCU should get plenty of playoff consideration.
Again, this isn’t a list of the best coaches in the country, it’s a list of which coaches are doing the best job this season.
