With Todd Gurley suspended indefinitely, let’s see who took advantage in our Heisman Rankings.

Heisman Rankings

1. Dak Prescott, QB, Mississippi State

Dak Prescott is at the top of a lot of Heisman lists, as he led Mississippi State to a big victory over Auburn. Still, Prescott made plenty of mistakes as he barely completed 50 percent of his throws and was picked off twice. Without Gurley, it’s a wide open race.

2. Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin

With Todd Gurley suspended indefinitely, Melvin Gordon took over the reigns of best running back in the country. Gordon gained 175 yards on 27 carries with four touchdowns in the Badgers 38-28 victory over Illinois.

3. Ameer Abdullah, RB, Nebraska

Ameer Abdullah had a bye week so it’s tough to drop him. He’s going to have to put up big stats the rest of the way and hope Prescott and the Bulldogs drop a game or two.

4. Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon

Mariota fell out of the top spot with Oregon’s loss to Arizona, but as the top teams fall and Oregon keeps winning, he’s back in contention. Mariota was very good accounting for 285 yards and four total touchdowns in Oregon’s 42-30 victory over UCLA, in a game which wasn’t as close as the final score would indicate.

5. Bryce Petty

Bryce Petty was on a lot of Heisman lists early on and the Bears are undefeated so he should probably be higher. Petty wasn’t great in Baylor’s improbable 61-58 comeback victory over TCU, but he did throw for 510 yards with six touchdowns.
