The Pittsburgh Steelers exercised the fifth-year option on guard David DeCastro on Thursday.

The 24th overall pick in the 2012 draft will remain under contract through 2016 and will be paid the average of the Nos. 3-25 players at his position.

The deadline for teams to pick up 2016 options on 2012 first-rounders is May 3.

DeCastro is among three players who have had their options exercised. His former Stanford teammate, quarterback Andrew Luck, had his option picked up by the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday as well. The San Diego Chargers opted to keep linebacker Melvin Ingram earlier this week.
