McGuire, a three-star recruit from West Orange, N.J., had scholarship offers from only FSU, Boston College and Buffalo, according to 247sports. His first couple of years as a Seminole has been spent in Winston’s shadow. But that will change against the No. 22-ranked Tigers.

Sophomore linebacker Ey’Shawn McClain and starting cornerback Leviticus Payne were cited for unknown violations early Sunday morning.

Whitehead did not accompany the fifth-ranked Tigers to Manhattan, Kan., for the nonconference game between top 25 teams.

One report indicated that the suspension resulted from Whitehead having a heated verbal confrontation with an assistant coach.

Whitehead ranks fourth on the team in tackles with 12 and has a team-leading two interceptions. He returned one interception for a touchdown in the season opener against Arkansas.

–Missouri and UConn announced that the two schools will play a home-and-home series beginning in 2015.

Missouri will head north to East Hartford, Conn., on Sept. 23, 2017.

–West Virginia cornerback Daryl Worley, who has been suspended for Saturday’s showdown with Oklahoma, turned himself into authorities after a warrant was issued for his arrest in connection with an alleged assault at a nightclub.

Worley was arraigned on a battery charge late Wednesday afternoon and released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond. A battery conviction in West Virginia is punishable by up to one year in jail and a $500 fine.

Morgantown, W.Va., police reportedly have surveillance footage that shows Worley involved in an altercation with a woman outside a nightclub early Sunday morning. Worley allegedly put his hands around the woman’s throat and pushed her down, according to police reports.
