RG3 on Gruden: My Job is Not to Judge the Coach

Published

on

Jay Gruden’s first season as Redskins head coach had many more downs than ups, and a consistent source of frustration seemed to be his quarterback situation. Robert Griffin III started the season as Washington’s starter, but sustained an injury Week 2 that altered the course of his 2014 season. He eventually returned, only to later be benched for poor performance. Throughout the season, Gruden at times had tough words for Griffin, and it seemed the relationship between the two men was far from perfect. But now, it appears Griffin is ready and excited for a new season under Gruden’s leadership.

“We both want to win,” Griffin said when asked about his relationship with Gruden.

“Jay came in here with the plan to help develop me as a quarterback, and help this team win,” RG3 told Larry Michael on Redskins Nation. “He wants me to go out there and be the quarterback he knows I can be, and I will be.

“My job is not to characterize or judge him as a coach.”
