Florida State suspended Heisman Trophy quarterback Jameis Winston for the first half of Saturday’s game against Clemson after he was seen shouting an obscene phrase in the campus student union.

FSU interim president Dr. Garnett S. Stokes and athletics director Stan Wilcox denounced Winston’s “offensive and vulgar” behavior in a statement Wednesday to announce the punishment. The statement also said Winston would undergo “internal discipline.”

The Spartans get back at it this week against Eastern Michigan, a program struggling to rebuild and coming off two one-sided losses to Florida and Old Dominion. But coach Mark Dantonio isn’t about to let a 45-point spread dictate how his team approaches the game.
