Broncos sign DL Unrein
Former Denver Broncos defensive lineman Mitch Unrein signed a two-year contract with San Diego, the Chargers announced Wednesday.
Unrein, 27, appeared in eight games for Denver as a reserve last season, making one tackle. The previous three years, he played a total of 46 games for the Broncos and started twice. Through four NFL seasons, he has 49 tackles and one fumble recovery.
According to UT San Diego, the Chargers might utilize him at both nose tackle and end.
Unrein will be reunited in San Diego with head coach Mike McCoy, a former Broncos assistant.
Unrein entered the NFL by signing with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Wyoming in 2010. Houston released him, and he spent much of the 2010 season on Denver’s practice squad.
