Browns re-sign DL Hughes for four years
The Cleveland Browns re-signed defensive lineman John Hughes on Friday.
The team did not release terms of the deal, but the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported it is a four-year deal worth $14.4 million, including a $2.5 million signing bonus and $3.56 million guaranteed.
A third-round pick by the Browns in 2012, Hughes has been a key component of the Browns’ run defense.
Injuries limited him to five games last season, but the Browns didn’t let that deter them from keeping the 6-foot-2, 320-pounder, who had 68 tackles and four sacks in his first two seasons.
“It’s an amazing feeling,” Hughes told the team’s website after re-signing. “For the Cleveland Browns to have the faith in me and believe in me to sign me a year early, it’s just a great feeling.”
