Bills introduce a ‘happy’ LeSean McCoy
Buffalo has made newly acquired running back LeSean McCoy a happy man. Now, the Bills hope one of the league’s most productive offensive players can lead them to the promised land.
The Bills on Tuesday officially introduced McCoy, whom they acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles for linebacker Kiko Alonso.
Buffalo also revealed that the team has given McCoy a contract extension. In accordance with team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“It feels good to be here. It feels good to be appreciated,” McCoy said. “Since I heard about the trade, the Bills organization has been great. I can’t wait to get to work. Can’t wait to get that goal — to win a championship.”
In six years with the Eagles, McCoy rushed for 6,792 yards and 44 touchdowns. He added 2,282 receiving yards and 10 more scores on receptions.
McCoy said he was training in Miami when he found out about the trade last week.
“I took a nap and woke up to thousands of text messages,” he said.
He admitted the trade took him by surprise and triggered a range of emotions.
“I think for every athlete, getting traded comes with a feeling of anger,” McCoy told buffalobills.com. “I was definitely angry about the trade. I was there for six years. But then to see how much the Bills showed that they wanted me with the contract extending me here. You want to play for a franchise like that.”
In six years in Philadelphia, the Eagles played in the postseason three times, but never won a game. The Bills last appeared in the playoffs in 1999.
