Colts sign CB Butler to extension

The Indianapolis Colts agreed to terms with cornerback Darius Butler on a contract extension on Sunday.

Butler, a second-round pick by the New England Patriots in 2009, had 46 tackles and nine pass deflections in 2014. He has been the Colts’ nickel back since joining the team in 2012.

Over the past three seasons, Butler has 129 tackles, 30 passes defensed, eight interceptions, including three returned for touchdowns, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in 41 games.

In his six-year NFL career with the Colts, the Carolina Panthers and Patriots, Butler has 219 tackles (188 solo), 51 passes defensed, 11 interceptions, including four returned for touchdowns, four fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles in 83 games (29 starts).
