Raiders hire Downing as QBs coach

The Oakland Raiders hired former Buffalo Bills quarterbacks coach Todd Downing to the same position, according to reports Friday.

New Raiders offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave said earlier in the week that he would not double as the team’s quarterbacks coach.

Downing’s agent Ken Sarnoff said on Twitter:

“Congrats to client and great friend Todd Downing on becoming the new QB Coach for the @RAIDERS!!!”

Downing spent the 2014 season as quarterbacks coach with the Bills and prior to that held positions with the Detroit Lions.

New head coach Jack Del Rio also added Florida State defensive line coach Sal Sunseri to the defensive staff, according to the Tallahassee Democrat.

Sunseri and Del Rio worked together in Carolina in 2002 when Del Rio was defensive coordinator and Sunseri was defensive line coach. After leaving the Panthers in 2008, Sunseri worked at Alabama and Tennessee before heading to FSU.
