Seahawks RB Lynch fined $20K

Published

on

Marshawn Lynch was fined $20,000 for grabbing his crotch after scoring a 24-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s NFC Championship game. The Seahawks’ running back was previously fined for a similar gesture against the Arizona Cardinals, and the hits could keep coming.

Lynch is facing a fine north of $50,000 for refusing to talk to media Sunday night following the win that sends the Seahawks back to the Super Bowl. He was fined $50,000 earlier this season for not talking to the media and is required to be available at least three days next week in Glendale.

Last year in New Jersey, where media sessions were held before the Super Bowl, Lynch’s question-answer sessions were a hot topic.

A source close to the situation told The Sports Xchange that the league and Seahawks are attempting to find a resolution to avoid making Lynch’s media sessions a hot topic.

ESPN said the NFL plans to fine Lynch increasing amounts for each session he misses in Arizona. Players are required to speak Tuesday at Media Day, and be available during one-hour sessions at the team hotel Wednesday and Thursday.
