Redskins release S Rambo
Second-year safety Baccari Rambo was released by the Washington Redskins, who needed to make a move with starting safety Brandon Meriweather returning from a two-game suspension this week.
Rambo, a sixth-round pick in 2013, started three games — all during Rambo suspensions — including the first two games in 2014.
Rambo was responsible for both touchdowns allowed by the Redskins in 2014, missing open-field tackles on Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins in Week 1 and in Sunday’s 41-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, tight end Marcedes Lewis got by Rambo on a 63-yard score.
Meriweather was suspended the first two games for a repeat violation of player safety rules. He was flagged and fined for the preseason helmet-to-helmet hit on Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith.
