Despite being benched last week, Jay Cutler will likely return as the quarterback of the Chicago Bears and with a new coaching staff and perhaps general manager, according to CBSSports.com.

Second-year head coach Marc Trestman is expected to be fired and general manager Phil Emery could also be ousted at the end of the season. However, the Bears may be stuck with Cutler for at least two more years because of his big contract.

Cutler is guaranteed $16 million next season and $10 million of his $16 million salary in 2016 becomes fully guaranteed in March. Cutler reportedly is unwilling to change his contract to help him get traded. He also wants to wait and see who will be coaching him next season.

Cutler is making $22 million this season.

If the team cuts Cutler, the move would cost the team $15.5 million. The Bears reportedly do not want to explore that option.

Trestman made the decision to bench Cutler in favor of Jimmy Clausen. A new coach willing to work with Cutler would be expected to start him. Mike Shanahan, who drafted Cutler when he coached the Denver Broncos, is reportedly interested in reuniting with Cutler. The two still have a close relationship.

Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak and Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles could also be candidates. The three are coaching disciples of Mike Shanahan.

San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, who played for the Bears, has come up as a possible candidate, but the Bears likely are not willing to pay the price it would take to land him.
