The San Francisco 49ers signed linebacker Desmond Bishop to a one-year contract and placed wide receiver Kassim Osgood on injured reserve Tuesday.

The 49ers also signed tight end Xavier Grimble to the practice squad.

Bishop was released by the Arizona Cardinals on Dec. 1 after signing with the team in August.

The 30-year-old Bishop was with the Green Bay Packers for six years and then spent last season with the Minnesota Vikings. He has 318 career tackles, nine sacks and one interception on defense and an additional 53 special-teams tackles.

Osgood has 45 receptions for 766 yards and five touchdowns in 117 career NFL games in addition to 141 special teams tackles.

During the past two seasons with the 49ers, Osgood had 19 special teams tackles in 27 games.

Grimble, an undrafted free agent, started the 2014 season with the New York Giants but was waived on Aug. 26. The 49ers signed him to their practice squad on Sept. 15 and released him on Nov. 18. The New England Patriots picked him up before he was released two days later and reclaimed by the 49ers.

At Southern Cal, Grible had 69 receptions for 731 yards and 11 touchdowns in his collegiate career.
