Cardinals QB Stanton exits with knee injury
ST. LOUIS — Arizona Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton was carted off the field in the third quarter Thursday night with a right knee injury after being sacked.
Stanton was brought down from behind by St. Louis Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald for an 8-yard loss at the St. Louis 39. Stanton hobbled off the field and was replaced by third-stringer Ryan Lindley.
Shortly after placekicker Chandler Catanzaro hit a 51-yard field goal to give Arizona a 9-3 lead with 7:23 left, Stanton was carted to the Arizona locker room. Lindley returned to the game on the Cardinals’ next possession.
Stanton’s return to the game was deemed questionable by Arizona officials.
Stanton, who became the Cardinals starter after Carson Palmer suffered a season-ending knee injury on Nov. 9, had completed 12 of 20 passes for 105 yards on Thursday before the injury.
