Dolphins place S Delmas on IR
DAVIE, Fla. — Safety Louis Delmas was placed on injured reserve by the Miami Dolphins with a torn ACL suffered Sunday.
“It’s unfortunately,” said coach Joe Philbin, who did not elaborate on the plan to replace Delmas, who has one interception and is second on the team with 58 tackles.
The likely candidates are Jimmy Wilson or rookie Walt Aikens. If Wilson starts at safety, Miami then needs to fill his role as the nickel corner.
The Dolphins are already dealing with injuries to cornerback Cortland Finnegan, who has missed four games with an ankle injury, and backup Jamar Taylor, who has missed the past two due to a shoulder injury.
“You know, that’s how things happen, there is usually a run at some position and you have to deal with it,” Philbin said. “We’ll see how this week unfolds with guys that we can get back. We’ll have guys ready to go though. Absolutely.”
