Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is not expected to play again this season, even if the hearing officer in his suspension appeal lifts the ban.

A decision on Peterson’s appeal of his six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy is expected to come this week from Harold Henderson, the league’s hearing officer.

A source told ESPN that even if Henderson reinstates Peterson from the commissioner exempt list, there is little belief that he will play again this season.

If Peterson’s ban holds up, he still must serve a minimum of six games, which would carry over to next season. He would miss the remaining three games of this season and the first three of 2015.

—The Chicago Bears have “buyer’s remorse” over the contract they gave to quarterback Jay Cutler before the season, according to NFL Network.

The Bears gave Cutler, 31, a seven-year, $126 million deal in which $54 million is guaranteed.

Cutler has a strong arm but has had problems turning the ball over throughout his career. The Bears even considered benching him two weeks ago against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers two weeks ago because of his struggles.

–Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch believes a media conspiracy will keep him out of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Lynch, who generally does not speak to reporters, told former teammate Michael Robinson of NFL Network in an interview that his relationship with the media will prevent him from entering the Hall of Fame.

“You know who votes for that,” Lynch said. “They don’t seem to … see eye to eye with me — which is cool. And if I’m not, (expletive), I’ll still live.”

–Cleveland Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer is likely playing his final games with the team, according to ESPN.

League sources told ESPN that Hoyer will not be with the Browns after the season unless the team makes the playoffs. He can become a free agent when the season ends.

If Hoyer decides on free agency, teams including the Houston Texans are reportedly expected to be interested in him.

–Carolina Panthers tight end Brandon Williams was ejected after a melee broke out in the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.

The brawl started after Panthers quarterback Cam Newton celebrated a touchdown run to put Carolina up 17-0 with 6:41 remaining in the first quarter.

After Newton got off the ground following the 2-yard score, he got into a shouting match with Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan. Pushing and shoving ensued between the two teams. During the melee, Williams charged in and appeared to throw punches at Jordan and Saints linebacker Ronald Powell, drawing the ejection from officials.

—Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson sustained a concussion during Sunday’s game against Jacksonville and did not return.

—Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson was not active for Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Rams because of a shin injury.
