Titans’ Hunter to remain in hospital

Published

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter will spend at least another night in a Houston hospital to undergo evaluation for a lacerated spleen.

The Titans said Monday that Hunter is expected to be released in the next couple of days.

Hunter spent Sunday night at the hospital after being injured during the Titans’ 45-21 loss to the Houston Texans. Hunter was hit by Texans safety Danieal Manning in the first quarter on an in-cutting route as the ball sailed and was intercepted. Quarterback Zach Mettenberger took responsibility for misreading the coverage, but Hunter did not make much of an effort to go get the ball.

Hunter, a second-round draft pick out of the University of Tennessee in 2013, returned to the game but was taken to the hospital after complaining of stomach pains. Hunter was spitting up blood on the sideline when he was taken to the locker room for observation and the trainers determined he suffered a serious injury.

Hunter posted a message on Twitter Sunday, thanking his followers for their support:

“Thanks for all the love, n to all the titans I’ll come back strong.”
