OWINGS MILLS, Md. — As the Baltimore Ravens prepare for Monday night’s road game against the New Orleans Saints, one of their biggest priorities is getting quarterback Joe Flacco back on track.

Flacco has thrown five touchdowns with five interceptions in the past four games. He had a dozen touchdowns and three interceptions in the first six games.

“Listen, I’m not in the game of evaluating myself,” Flacco said. “I’ll leave that up to (reporters). Through the next six weeks, we’re going to try to incorporate the things that we do well and the things that we need to do more of into our game plan and therefore give us the best chance to go out there and play well. I’m not going to evaluate myself.

“I think this offense has been pretty good. I think we’ve been pretty consistent for the most part. We would have obviously liked to be a little bit better the last couple of weeks. We have a great opportunity ahead of us, and we just have to keep it going.”

Flacco has passed for 2,521 yards, 17 touchdowns and eight interceptions this season. He is on pace to finish with 4,033 yards, 27 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

The Ravens rank 12th in total offense and are averaging 364.8 yards per game and are tied for seventh in scoring offense with an average of 26.1 points per game.

“Just doing the things that we do well,” Flacco said when asked what offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak’s message means to him. “And some of the things that we haven’t done as well as we’d probably like to not do them as much because obviously they’re not working for a reason.”

If Flacco hadn’t won the Most Valuable Player honors, Jones would have been a strong candidate after the 34-31 win with his 108-yard kickoff return and a 56-yard touchdown reception.

Now, the former Pro Bowl kick returner is eyeing a successful return to his hometown Monday night at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome against the New Orleans Saints.

“It’s always going to be history because what we did was historic,” said Jones, who tied a Super Bowl record for longest kickoff return. “We’re always going to be brothers. High school all-star games there, all kinds of things, every time I walk in that stadium no matter whether I’m retired or not, it’s a piece of me. I got a piece of this turf.”

This hasn’t been a banner season offensively for Jones with just four receptions for 50 yards to go with six dropped passes, but he has picked up his pace as a return man recently. Jones has a 108-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He’s averaging 31.7 yards per kickoff return and 8.2 yards per punt return.

Jones downplayed the notion that the Ravens might have extra energy because of the venue.

“I think honestly we’re going to be ourselves,” he said. “We’re not going to get too out of hand even though it’s Monday Night Football. We ain’t going to get too geeked up. It’s almost two years ago. We’re trying to get to this Super Bowl.”
