Report: NFL probing Saints’ roster move

Published

on

The NFL is investigating a roster move recently made by the New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN.

The league wants to find out if the Saints illegally kept linebacker Todd Davis in their training facility after releasing him to prevent the Denver Broncos from claiming him on waivers.

A Saints official told ESPN that he was not aware of any impropriety.

The Saints waived Davis last week, but kept him in team meetings at their training facility Thursday and planned to sign him to their practice squad, according to the report.

The Broncos claimed Davis that day and wanted him in Denver to practice on Friday. However, they could not reach him because he was reportedly in meetings with the Saints in New Orleans.

Davis did meet with the Broncos in St. Louis on Saturday, where they play the Rams on Sunday. However, the NFL began looking into whether or not the Saints did anything wrong. If so, they could be fined.
