Report: Dolphins to ‘host’ London game in ’15

Published

on

The Miami Dolphins are likely to return to London in 2015 to play a regular-season game at Wembley Stadium for a second consecutive year, according to The Palm Beach Post.

The NFL owners voted last month to require teams hosting a Super Bowl to play a “home” game in London within five years of the successful bid. The Dolphins are currently renovating Sun Life Stadium with an eye on hosting a Super Bowl as early as 2019.

The NFL is expected to announce the slate of 2015 London games Thursday, with the Dolphins likely to play a home game after beating the Oakland Raiders, 38-14, as the road team on Sept. 28. The NFL owners have previously stipulated that teams can travel to London as the road team only once every five years.

The date and opponent for next season’s game are yet known, but it would be against the Texans, Colts, Cowboys or Giants, as the league does not move divisional games overseas. The Dolphins were the home team against the Giants in London in 2007.
