Patriots make practice squad move
The New England Patriots re-signed offensive lineman Chris Barker to the practice squad and released defensive lineman Ben Bass from the unit on Thursday.
Barker, 24, had been released from the 53-man roster Tuesday to make room for linebacker Jonathan Casillas, who was acquired in a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Barker, 6 feet 2 and 310 pounds, is in his second season after spending the 2013 season on the New England roster.
Bass, 25, was acquired from the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for defensive back Justin Green on Aug. 15. The Patriots waived the 6-foot-5, 295-pound lineman on Aug. 26 and signed him to the practice squad Sept. 26.
