Texans activate Clowney

Published

on

The Houston Texans activated outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.

Clowney, the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft, has been out with a knee injury. He last played the season opener against the Washington Redskins.

However, the Texans are without inside linebacker Brian Cushing, who has been bothered by a knee injury. He has had it operated on twice in the past two seasons.

Clowney missed six games since having arthroscopic surgery on Sept. 8. He has been practicing for two weeks but has not been healthy enough to play. He said it is still difficult for him to make cuts.

Defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel said late last week that Clowney would be used in third-down situations before easing him back into regular playing time.

Clowney was listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report.
